Does the Wii Fit Really Work?
1There is no doubt that good old exercise is the best way to keep your muscles, bones and heart healthy throughout your life. It seems like every day there is a new fitness craze to help people get into shape once and for all. Whether it’s some sort of martial arts type routine, a new aerobic dance class at the local gym or yoga, there is always a new ploy that claims to be the best way to get in shape. The latest craze? The Wii Fit.
People have been snatching up the Wii Fit left and right, claiming it is the new, fun way to get in shape. But, does this video game fitness system really work? It uses a type of balance board that tracks everything the player does. It tracks your weight, burned calories and fitness progress. It starts out by weighing you and translating your weight into a cartoon (“Mii”) version of yourself. As you work out with the Wii Fit, your Mii loses weight.
It seems that the biggest catch for the Wii Fit is pretty much the same with any other fitness craze – you have to actually use it for it to work! Like anything, it takes commitment. If you commit yourself to a regular routine with the Wii Fit, you can most definitely start seeing results. It offers such a wide range of activities like running, push-ups and yoga. Exercising on the Wii can be fun too and a bit easier than dragging yourself to the gym everyday since you can do it in your own living room. So, as long as you make that commitment to getting in shape, the Wii Fit could be your way to get there!
10 Benefits of Exercise
0We have all heard it many times before – exercise is healthy and important for a long, fulfilling life. But still, many of us are reluctant to begin an exercise routine and it shows in the United States’ astronomical obesity rates. Exercise doesn’t have to be difficult or long; a simple routine everyday can work wonders for your body and health. Here are 10 benefits to exercising everyday:
- Manage Your Weight – This is probably the most obvious benefit of exercise, but still important! Keeping your body at a healthy weight level will benefit you well into old age. Maintaining a healthy weight can also help your body combat chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes.
- Improves Your Mood – Exercise helps your brain to release chemicals that make you feel happier. Feeling happy can also help you feel better about the way you look. When your self esteem is high, every other part of your life benefits too!
- Boost Energy Levels – You might think that working out will make you feel tired and run down, especially after a long day of work. In truth, exercise has the complete opposite effect! A brief workout can give you that little boost of energy to conquer those after-5 o’clock hours.
- Increase Mental Focus – Exercising regularly can help you to keep your brain sharp, well into your later years. It can help fend off diseases like Alzheimer’s and senility.
- Decrease Risk of Osteoporosis – We all know the dangers of osteoporosis but a regular exercise routine can help to prevent bone loss and even reverse it by building bone mass.

- Reduce Stress Levels – In today’s fast-paced world, stress is inevitable. Stress has been shown to cause all sorts of health problems so keeping it under control is important. Working out can be a great outlet to relive stress and keep you feeling in control.
- Improve Your Posture – So many people sit at a desk in front of a computer for hours on end and it can wreak havoc on your back. Exercising can help improve your posture and alleviate back pain. You can even try sitting on a balance ball at the office and give yourself an ab workout while you type!
- Burn Calories – Exercise is a great way to teach your body to use calories more efficiently. Exercising allows oxygen and nutrients into your muscles and simply helps your entire body to work better!
